Activities

On Monday morning, Bowen is hosting you and your guest for one of the activities listed below. During the registration process, please indicate whether you or your guest would prefer to play golf, go fishing, take a Backwater Cat out on the water, relax with a massage at the spa, or have some time on your own. You are not required to choose the same activity as your guest.

Golf

Oak Marsh Golf Course at the Omni Amelia Island is one of the truly classic Pete Dye-designed golf courses in the world. The course, built in 1972, is noted for its tight fairways and small greens, meandering along serpentine salt marsh creeks and through the moss draped heritage oaks, for which Amelia Island is famous. At par 72, this 6,500-yard course has 14 holes with water hazards and numerous bulk-headed greens. A natural approach has been maintained with the use of coquina shell cart paths, native plant life and preserved habitats for local wildlife, while a variety of bunkers are placed throughout the course to add to the challenge.

Backwater Cat

For those seeking wildlife, sea life and a fun boating experience--adventure awaits! Drive your own two-person catamaran, while a guide (on his boat) leads you around Fort Clinch, Cumberland Island, Georgia and throughout the backwater of Amelia Island. After a briefing on how to operate your own boat, this 2 ½ hour adventure takes you on a river run through some of the most beautiful backwater and marshlands that Amelia has to offer. Look for dolphin, sea birds and other sea life along the way. After some boating in the backwater, stop off on a beautiful island for a little time off the boat. Then it's on to waters just off of historic Fort Clinch, before heading back down the Amelia River to the Historic Fernandina Harbor to where the tour started. Each Cat accommodates 2 people.

Fishing

Amelia Island is one of the best places to fish under the warm Florida sun because the sporting opportunities are endless for everyone, from the novice to the hard-core angler. The best fishing at this time of year is generally the jetty and bay fishing not too far off shore. Possible catches include cobia, shark, drum and kingfish.

Free time

Chill out by the pool, jump in the ocean, walk along the beach or head into Fernandina. You can do as much, or as little as you like. You've earned this time to relax!

Massage

From the moment you step inside The Spa at Omni Amelia Island, you’ll have the opportunity to enter a relaxation area and garden, perfect for before and after your treatment. Enjoy the vast array of herbal teas and organic citrus water, then rejuvenate with a 50-minute Swedish, Aromatherapy or Deep Tissue massage. Don't know what to choose? We recommend the Swedish!

On Tuesday, Bowen is providing a shuttle to the nearby town of Fernandina (about 15 minutes away). During registration, please indicate if you think you will be taking advantage of this shuttle. You can change your mind, but we’re just trying to get an idea of how many people will want this service.

Additional activities on your own at the Omni

Some of these activities have additional costs associated with them. The Omni Amelia Island offers a true resort experience. There are enough things to do, places to go, and experiences to have, all within the sprawling grounds just outside the hotel doors to keep each person happy and busy. From on-site shopping and miniature golf, to tennis, pickleball, kayaking and Segway tours, this place has something for everyone.

Prior to the trip, we will share the resort’s calendar of events for your time on Amelia Island. If you would like to see what kinds of things may be offered, click the link below for the current schedule (subject to change).
